About me
I'm currently an Integrated PhD student at the Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. My research interests lie in the broad and inter-disciplinary field of complex systems, with a view of analyzing such systems by using methods of nonlinear dynamics and statistics. They have a wide range of applications, spanning from climate science and stock markets, all the way to physiological systems and active matter.
My PhD research, under the guidance of Prof. Rahul Pandit of the Department of Physics at IISc, focusses on a thorough investigation of the spatiotemporal statistics of compressible and incompressible fluid and magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) turbulent flows via detailed numerical simulations and theoretical analyses of both simplified and complicated models of such fluids.
Earlier, I have researched on a unique form of synchrony exhibited by chaotic Hamiltonian systems, called measure synchronization, as a part of a summer internship program at the Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, Kolkata, India, under the guidance of Prof. A. N. Sekar Iyengar and Prof. M. S. Janaki. I have also studied the various kinds of burst patterns and synchronised behaviour exhibited by a system of coupled Type-I and Type-II neurone with Prof. Janaki Balakrishnan of the National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS), Bangalore, India. As part of my Masters project, under Dr. Animesh Kuley at IISc, I have worked on the development of a new numerical code that will enable the accurate simulation of fusion plasmas in the core and the boundary regions of a tokamak (plasma confinement device), overcoming the difficulties faced by the earlier methods.
Besides research, my hobbies include singing and listening to music. Also, I am an avid follower of various sports.
